Enjoying Vintage Aircraft Exhibits

vintage car parts

Can you imagine the feeling of wonder, viewing a vintage aircraft taking off into the skies. It’s awesome to watch these flying machines, as they were called. The sight of these aircraft flying over you is like watching history come alive.

Vintage aircraft are often exhibited at air shows and static displays. This brings people from all over the world to share their interest and knowledge of them. This keeps aviation history alive, and educates people on what flying was like long ago.

Often, what defines the term “vintage” is a source of debate. With cars, it’s defined as from 1919 to 1930. However, many people regard the time between the two world wars as the vintage era. Aircraft built in the early post-war period, from the mid forties to the early fifties, are now old enough to be considered vintage.

The most famous of theminclude; Aeronca Champ, Beech 18 and Staggerwing, Bellanca Cruiseair and Cruisemaster, The German Bucker Jungmann, The early Cessna series, including the 120, 140, 170, 190, 195.

The British DeHavilland Chipmunk, The Fairchild 24W, PT-19 and PT-26 The Globe Swift, Luscombe Silvaire, an early aluminum plane, Monocoupe, Naval Aircraft Factory N3N, The early Pipers, including the famous Cub, plus the Pacer and Tri-Pacer, Rearwin Sportster, Ryan STA and PT-22, Stearman Biplane, Stinson Reliant, Taylorcraft BC-12D, Travel Air, and the Waco biplanes, among others.

Most of these manufacturers disappeared long ago, so keeping them in flying condition is a challenge.

These airplanes are a beauty to watch, and the big attraction at air festivals. These planes are painstakingly maintained by their owners and volunteers and flown for pleasure. You can often get close enough to photograph and talk to the pilots.

The two biggest air shows in the country are held every year at Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Lakeland, Florida. These gigantic events bring thousands of visitors.

Antique Bowed String Instruments and Vintage Cars

vintage car parts

An antique is an artifact—be it furniture, clothing, pottery and ceramics, vehicles, or musical instruments—that is at least one hundred years old. There is some confusion between this term and vintage. Vintage refers to the time period of manufacture of the item. For example, an antique violin may be referred to as an “1853 vintage violin.”

Unlike cars, string instruments are designed to last for a long time. The older they get, the better they sound. This is because the wood hardens with age. This makes the sound resonate better in an older string instrument than a new one. Antique stringed instruments sound best with backs with a single piece.

Antique cars, on the other hand, are often limited to being merely collectibles than being used. Most antique cars are no longer fit for the present-day road populated with fast vehicles. Most antique cars have to be customized to accommodate newer parts since some of their parts are no longer in production.

Like some antique cars, some antique stringed instruments are no longer good for use. With age, some stringed instruments develop cracks on the body. The instrument experiences worse deterioration from several repairs. Fortunately, there are antique auto shops with used Mercedes parts for sale.

For owners who like their antique cars with complete mechanisms, there are used Mercedes parts for sale in some antique car shops. Some parts, including engines, are fully functional. These offer owners a chance to put their antique cars on the road from time to time. Unless customized, the antique car has to be installed with antique parts so it could work. This cannot be done to an antique stringed instrument unless the strings are the only ones that need replacement.

Some antique car shops also sell used Porsche parts for antique cars including classic racing cars and luxury cars like old convertibles known as spiders. Antique cars have the advantage of being taken apart and put back together. Even if they no longer work, they are still beautiful. Unlike antique cars, antique stringed instruments have to stay intact for a long time for them to work properly.

Owning an antique car is a dream shared by many men and women. Cruising down the street in a classic car not only turns a few heads it makes you feel great knowing that you’ve invested in something of value. For many people they decide to restore the antique car they’ve purchased. They know that even though it involves a lot of time and work, the end result is well worth the effort. One of the first things to consider if you are planning on taking on the restoration o…

The Austin Healey 3000 Review

The Austin Healey 3000 is a car that was made from 1959 to 1967 and is essentially a British Sports Car. Jensen Motors did the bodywork for the car and the BMC Abingdon works assembled the car. Many people used the car in rallies in those times and won the races and the car was truly a masterpiece and this is why it is still used by many people today. The car had a 2912 cc engine with front disc brakes and twin SU carburetors. There were options available of an overdrive gearbox, wire wheels, a heater, a laminated windscreen, a detachable hard top, adjusting steering column, and a two tone paint.

The first model of the car was launched in 1959 and then later subsequent models were also launched with modifications. The first model was known as MK I and then the others were called MK II and MK III. The second model was introduced in 1961 and this also came in a two and a four seat version. The MK III was launched later in October 1963 and was produced till 1967. This was the year when the production of Austin Healey was stopped. The MK III was the most luxurious and most powerful of the cars. It had a wind up window, walnut veneer dash, and an 112KW engine. There were improvements made to the engine also. All models of the car had improvements which were better than the earlier models and which added to the pleasure of driving the car. The cars were very popular with the masses and specially the race enthusiasts and this is the reason they are still being used in rallies.

How to Take Care of Your Car in the Winter

Many of you will know this, but for those who don’t, your car needs just that little bit extra TLC in the winter months.Read on to see how to keep your car in tip top condition this winter.

Instructions

1

Rust

Rust is the enemy of your car, and all metal for that matter.  In the winter, more salt is about.  The roads are gritted with a mixture of salt and other components at this time of year.  Why add salt?  You may well be asking.  They add salt as when it goes down, nothing can ice on it for a few hours, unless heavy snow continually falls on it.

In order to protect your car from rusting (salt loves metal but metal really doesn’t like salt), you should wash it fairly regularly at this time of the year, and put some wax on it.  This acts as an extra layer the salt has to breach.

2

Chips

Have just had to have a chip fixed on my own windscreen.  You want to have these sorted as soon as you spot them otherwise the first hard frost after can crack your windscreen.  There is, sadly, nothing you can do about preventing chips.  At this time of year the ice breaks bits of the road up, causing more stones on its surface, which in turn are kicked up by other cars.

The only thing you can do is take a picture, contact your local authority and inform them of it.  Add that if you do receive a chip after you have already notified them of this problem on the road, they will get the bill.

In the UK, Autoglass repair chips for free (they go through your insurance), so it might be a good idea to check that your policy is fully comprehensive and that you have this provision.  If your area is getting a lot of ice, make this provision part of your insurance if not already there.

3

Windscreen wash

Sounds silly but making sure you have windscreen wash in your wiper water is another bonus at this time of year.  Most washes will state that they work up to a -15C or some-such.  This means your wipers are less likely to freeze and the water won’t turn to ice when you do use it.

4

Antifreeze

Make sure you have this in your engine water, to keep it from freezing.  We actually put antifreeze into our windscreen washers, it has never harmed our paint.  If they are set properly it won’t go onto your roof.

5

Tyres

Most people don’t think to check at this time but again, these little things can save you a lot of hassle later.  Check your tyre pressure is correct and especially your tread.  Reduced tread = reduced grip, and you can use all the grip you can get in this weather.

6

Supplies

Make sure, if you are going anywhere in bad weather, that you have supplies such as a shovel, blanket, liquid, food, salt etc in the event you get stuck.

Safe driving!

Classic Car Pricing

classic car detailing

The dilemma comes with the territory for both buyers and sellers. That’s why either you choose to purchase a classic car or recycle for cash one you ought to have a concept of the way a classic car’s value is estimated.

The process is similar to the method accustomed to price any other car, but there are a few differences that make pricing a bit more complex. First of all you should know there are a lot of guides that you could buy or access online that can help you determine the right price. These guides consider the year, the model and the condition of the car and offer an idea of the cost you need to ask or consider to pay.

Secondly, you should attempt to locate just as much information as possible about the systems accustomed to rate classic cars. The most typical methods are the 6 category system and the 100 points system. The first considers six types of conditions that comprise this type of car. Each one of the categories will be rated with a number from 1 to six, where 1 means best condition and 6 worst possible condition. The 100 points system approaches the subject slightly differently, given that 100 points should be granted for any car in perfect condition. Any type of flaws create a loss of points that is proportional towards the severity of the issue.

Thirdly, you need to pick one from the systems described above, the one which best suits your vehicle which makes pricing the classic car an easier task for you. To do so, you should take a goal consider the interior and also the outside of the vehicle. Performance and mechanical issues ought to be also part of your agenda, since it will determine if your vehicle is functional. That aspect will reflect the cost!

Moreover, if you discover that the car is really a rare or perhaps a unique car you should consider a greater price. Usually, those cars which are harder to locate or happen to be produced at their time in a limited edition tend to be more valuable the greater common ones. That’s why you should give consideration and look for special designs, classic car and truck accessories or colors which make your car unique.

Last, but not least you should never forget to add extra value if your car has any original or authentic car features or parts. In case your car is not restored whatsoever or if perhaps a few of the parts were replaced you need to know that the prices are usually higher. The originality can refer to the paint from the car in order to important areas of the vehicle, like the engine. Either way, car collectors is going to be thrilled to listen to such good news and will be willing to pay the extra dollar.

Pricing this type of car can prove to be a serious task. Nowadays, with the development of the market for those, car collectors are curious about proofs of originality. But no matter the situation, any classic car deserves a fair deal there are a lot of tools that can help you receive the cost right.

Muscle Car Reviews – 2009 Ford Mustang Coupe and Mustang Shel GT500

classic car reviews

Article by Tim Jones

More than just being a high performance sports car the 2009 Ford Mustang Coupe is an appealing combination of power and elegance. Ford has succeeded in blending the classic exterior styling of the 1960s with a highly futuristic interior and an array of technological features. Exterior StylingIt is evident from several 2009 Ford Mustang reviews that experts agree on the styling of the pony car. While the 2009 Ford Mustang coupe exudes coolness in exterior styling the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby versions are more aggressive typical of a muscle car. Ford offers plenty of styling options for both Mustang coupe and convertibles available in four trims – V6 Deluxe, V6 Premium, GT Deluxe and GT Premium. The Ford Mustang convertibles feature a power vinyl top. The Mustang Shelby editions are more robust now with a fortified chassis. The front sway bar?s diameter of the 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe and convertibles is reduced increasing spring stiffness to allow quicker turn-in on the outward tire. Interior ComfortBoth the 2009 Ford Mustang coupe and convertible can accommodate four people along with enough storage at the rear cargo. Even though its charcoal black leather seating and aluminum dashboard looks sophisticated the appeal is reduced by excessive use of hard plastic inside the car. The same is applicable for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe and convertibles except the bold red seams and side bolstering on the seats. The comfort features in Ford Mustang V6 Deluxe includes keyless access, cruise control, air-conditioning, full power accessories, a CD player with an additional audio port. The V6 Premium comes with a power driver seat, a Shaker 500 stereo with six-CD changer. As for Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 convertible and coupe, Deluxe trims feature 18-inch alloy wheels, a front air splitter, a rear spoiler, fog-lamps, cruise control, navigation system, heat extractors, air-conditioning and power driver seat while the Premium edition comes with an additional sport bucket seats with Cobra logos and a Shaker 500 stereo with CD-changer and satellite radio.Power and PerformanceAll versions of Ford Mustang are rear-wheel-drive. The 2009 Ford Mustang is equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission with five-speed automatic as an option. The pony car uses a 4.0L 210Hp V6 producing 240lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is powered by a 4.6L 300Hp V8 that produces the required thrust to acquire 0 to 60mph in 5.7 seconds. But for Mustang Shelby GT500 a Tremec six-speed manual transmission is the only choice. The Ford muscle cars have 19mpg and 18mpg combined fuel economy respectively. Safety FeaturesThe 2009 Ford Mustang has four-wheel disc brakes and front-seat side airbags as standard safety features with optional ABS and traction control. The Shelby GT500 features Brembo brakes with ABS and traction control as standard.Despite absence of electronic stability control all Ford Mustang models have passed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests with five stars for front and side impact protection for front seat passenger. The 2009 Ford Mustang Convertible achieved a five star rating in rear side protection as well. From the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby reviews one point is clear that competitors like the BMW 128i, Nissan 350Z and Mazda RX-8 are ahead of Ford Mustang in interior styling and handling. This year in 2009, Mustang?s competitors? line up adds a new contender ? the Dodge Challenger available with V6 and V8 powertrains. Nevertheless, somewhere down the line the retro-futuristic design and reasonable pricing lend an extra edge to the 2009 Ford Mustang against their old rivals, the 2010 Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebirds.

Old Cars or Against…

vintage car parts

Some see in any car older than 10 years, a wreck, something worthy of being sent to the scrap recycling. They invest thousands of dollars for programs to dispose of old car park.
Old cars usually have a high fuel consumption, a high percentage of pollutants that pollute the air, breaks more often, are more expensive to maintain and have a low comfort and safety. Theseare some reasons why old cars are scrapped.
However each old car carries a history that has passed 10 years does not mean that a vehicle is recycled. There are countries where cars are used after 10 years, even after 20 years old.
In other countries cars are older vintage cars that are only going to parades and exhibitions.

I personally have an old car that circulate every day at work and my car is 31 years old.

A vintage car, depending on the country where the law is considered a car that has over 30 years since the last units produced. My car has yet worked six years to become a vintage car. And I’m sure will do.
Indeed there are many old cars in May should not run because of damaged state, but old cars are well maintained and should not besent for recycling, are jewel on wheels.
Reliable new cars are more economical, and have a high comfort and safety. But the price of a new car is much bigger than a car used.
I do not want to advertise to sell old cars but I want to say that not all old cars are bad.
